Two Holidays

I love this time of year!

The two holidays are so much fun. I love remembering and celebrating the birth of our King. It's an awesome birthday party! We give thanks for the gift of our Savior.

I also like the other Christmas.

That's what we tell our children anyway. There are two holidays that happen this time of year. The only confusing part is that they have the same name - Christmas. It's a great way for us to discuss what we like about the secular things going on around us and what we don't - without having to say we don't like Christmas.

We decorate, bake cookies, give gifts to friends and family. We even let the big jolly guy that wears red come to visit on the 24th. It's so much fun!!!

The focus isn't on the secular Christmas. Fun comes with both holidays though. Freely we have received - freely we give. As a family though, we try to do this year 'round. I guess that's why I'm OK with celebrating both Christmas holidays. My kids really aren't hung up on all the presents. We don't over schedule ourselves. We just enjoy the fun.

Besides, as a wise pastor told us once - the REAL party is at Easter!!

I couldn't agree more about the two holidays! Max is very excited for Christmas and all of the magic that comes along with it. He is looking forward to leaving cookies for Santa ("He'll eat them allll up!") and getting presents in his stocking. If you ask Max what Christmas is he will tell you "Baby Jesus birthcake" (He still says birthcake for birthday). I love both holidays; it's so much fun and such a great thing to celebrate.
